Yet Another Job for Vanessa Marcil
Reality television has held searches for life partners, models, hairdressers, dress designers, interior designers, chefs - and now makeup artists. This new search, Blush: The Search for the Next Great Make-Up Artist, for Lifetime Television, features ex-General Hospital star, Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda) as host. The show debuts on November 11. On Blush, contestants go after a $100,000 Max Factor contract and the chance to work on the makeup for an InStyle magazine shoot. The judges are InStyle fashion director Hal Rubenstein, makeup artist Joanna Schlip, with makeup artist Charlie Green serving as a mentor. As usual, everyone will be living together, so expect dueling mascara wands.
The constant demand for Marcil means that we may never see her reprise the role of Brenda. First her job on Lipstick Jungle and now this! Nevertheless, we're happy for her - congratulations, Vanessa!

Pure and simple, nannies are magical — at least most of the time, anyway. Forget about “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle” and think “Mary Poppins” instead. The latest example of nurturing nannies in cinema arrives in the form of Vanessa Marcil (”Las Vegas”), who stars in this Hallmark Channel Original movie as a spunky au pair — that’s what the French call them — who achieves the impossible in bringing a fractured family together AND just maybe finding love to boot. Marcil portrays Kate, who is hired to come to the rescue of widower David (Brennan Elliott) and his pair of resentful and traumatized children (Uriah Shelton and Natalie Dreyfuss). But no hostile juveniles are going to successfully intimidate this stout caregiver. She is nanny, hear her roar. Stage and screen veterans Stacy Keach and Dean Stockwell co-star in a film that waxes poignantly about love, loss and overcoming trauma.
