The stuff of the rumor mills:
Since Alyssa Milano's television series is not going forward, rumors are resurfacing that she may be just the person to recreate the role of General Hospital.
For many, Vanessa Marcil is irreplaceable. However, Marcil will be unable to return to GH for some time to come, and the show is sagging badly in the ratings lately. It needs a shot in the arm. Milano, who was discussed as a possible Brenda before her TV series was picked up, might be just the one to help raise them.

The ratings in the show are sinking because they are breaking up all the good couples. Example, Jason/Sam, Carly/Sonny, Lucky/Liz. Come on, Jason and Sam were the bomb couple. No woman accepted Jason’s life style except for sam.
I agree Sam/Jason worked the BEST together. As far a VM goes…I find she could very easily be replaced. I never understood why people think she is irreplaceable!!
The writing on this show is dismal. No actress can save this show. They should fire the writers and replace them.
They start things, and they don’t carry through on anything. The show makes no sense. There was a lot of potential for the Lulu/Baldwin’s son thing, it went nowhere. There was a lot of potential for the Sam/Lucky thing, they broke that up for no apparent reason. Luke and Laura are a bore. Luke is a bore, kill him off. The actor won’t work enough of the year to make the character work anyway. Get back to the hospital drama through the Robin/Patrick/Noah/ etc. family thing. It’s a great time for the Russian royalty to interact with real events in the news with Russia, do something with that. Kill off Sonny, he’s become a bore. Let Jason go strait and compete with Tracy for control of QBC. Let the Police do a few things right and outsmart the mobsters for a change. In short, write decent and believable storylines, and stick with them.

I don’t understand the obsession with Brenda…. now I missed alot of the Brenda era, but there was nothing to die for when she returned to the show some years back with Luis Alcazar. And she left Jax at the alter…they need to focus on the talent they have on the show and get rid of Scott. Has anyone seen where Logan got his posessive behavior from? UGHHHH…..
I AGREE. They need to focus on the talent they have in front of them, leave the past alone, and perhaps get a new writing team.
first of all the jason and elizabeth storyline is great just always short lived. Carly and Sonny are exhausting and soo over with. Sam should be with lucky that seems to be working just fine. In my opinion VM is irreplacable if you did not watch the Brenda years then you do not know what you missed. However since the show is becoming a fast foward button on my DVR it def. needs a boost maybe bringing back Brenda is what it needs. Its ashame you wake up Laura and it does not help ratings at all…..everytime Sonny moves on or Carly its the same thing again again enough. and Sonny does not need anymore kids!!

Jason/Liz have nothing going on. They had sex twice and got pregnant out of it. They are so over. I say put him with Sam again!!!!!
I agree that GH needs to finish plots that they start and not jerk us around. What happened to the premise that Jason is not the father of Jake? VM would probably boost ratings (not AM) only if the storyline was good, Jax is available. Jason and Sam are hot together, get them back. Sam is his equal and she can handle his and her business. Liz is boring, whiney and too needy. Jason is never going to be the “house husband” that she wants him to be. Revamp the whole show, it should not depend on big names or personalities ~ it’s the stories that count.
I would love to see Vanessa Marcil come back to GH, but I’m not sure even she could save this show. They need to get Jason and Sam back together – they were a couple who seemed to totally understand each other – over and done with Sonny and Carly, too. I don’t know if Alyssa could come across as Brenda – to me, there’s only one Brenda – Vanessa Marcil.
I don’t think the show needs another person in the mix when they’ve got so many great people and potential s/l’s going to waste I love Alyssa Milano but right now I’d like to see the people that are on the show have real juicey charcter driven s/l’s the mob violence should only be a side affect of the emotions that are supposed to carry this show. Carson is dead! Stop beating that dead horse! I hope this revisit of Jasam is only temp. I love Lusam and Liason. Luke and Laura are always great but where’s Tracy’s input she’s never been one to step aside! Also you’ve got Ric and Claudia who let’s face it would be awesomely evil together. So much more I could say but the point is NO MORE ACTORS FOR GH!

crap. I am so over it. Lets see the other characters and get some GOOD story lines going again. I am one that would only like Brenda w/Vanessa. Use the good people you have (less Carly would be ok tho) not add new.
Brenda was a fine character back in the day, but I don’t see any reason to bring her back, much yet recast her. GH has a a lot of an excellent talent, it’s just suffering from very poor writing. They should invest money in better writers rather than new actors.

I totally agree with Melisa.
I like this Carly with Jax. Sarah Brown/Tamara Braun’s Carly had a better chemistry with Sonny. Laura Wright brings a different spice. I also agree with storylines that runs in full like the old days. The Jerry Jacks guy is annoying. I hope that the real Jerry comes back and is still in love with Bobbie Spencer like he did when he originally left. Laura Spencer should just have a relationship with Baldwin so that she can calm him back down. Luke has short parts on the show so a relationship with him wouldn’t be necessary. We want to make the most of Genie Francis while she has agreed to be on the show. I don’t know who the young lady is who is replacing Vanessa Marcil but hopefully she will have a different storyline than trying to hook up with Sonny/Jax. Sonny should stay with Kate.
Get rid of Sam I cannot stand her whiney slutty decietful ways,big yuck-o for her,but a new Brenda might be interesting, as far as ratings go I’ve been loving it all don’t see any problems.
The show is sagging in the ratings because it’s boring and the writing is horrible. GH needs a complete revamp of their storylines and writing team. They don’t even understand the history of the characters (ie Anna Devane, Luke and Laura) which renders their lines believable.

The show is boring,the mos story is boring and so fake, and Sonny isn’t very convincing about how tough he is. Elizabeth is boring too. Jason/Sam are great together. Carly is good no matter what her storyline is. Kate is a big bore she’s useless, get rid of her ans Sonny and I’ll enjoy the show more.
Read all the comments. Sonny and Luke are needed on GH, as is Jason and Sam. Jax is NOT. He is the bore and so was Marcil (brenda). Elizabeth, since she’s the ONLY nurse at GH, I guess is necessary but not with Jason (no one is as naive as Elizabeth!). I did see all the Brenda junk and it was horrible! Probably why she can’t find another job. Kate should have never been inducted into GH AT ALL. Olivia is interesting and her mysterious son might be ok if they can cast it correctly. November sweeps is in progress so the show should be picking up. We’ll never see another 1980s Luke and Laura soap again though and that’s what is so sad!! BTW where is Johnny in all this? There was a small chance with Lulu and Johnny. Now we just watch shoot ‘em bang bang until it’s done (again!)
Somethings and people are best left in the past, and I believe that is the case of Brenda.
You just can’t replace Brenda with Alyssa-no way!!! There is only one Brenda!! If she won’t do it, then no one should!!
I love General Hospital! I don’t know why they are looking to bring Brenda back. It is fine without her. I’ve watched the show for 30 years. I love Carly with Jax… two rich good looking people… they could do loads with them together. Why do they keep breaking them up? Send them on adventures.
I also love the Quartermanes… don’t keep killing them off! Look at the comedy they give the show… I’ve had many a chuckle at them. Jason and Elizabeth are a wonderful couple. Let them actually get together… and live together… he can protect her.
I think Luke is a great part of the show. His comedic self is great. More adventures…

i think jason & robin should get back together.
the show has been boring because they have been recyling the same storyline for years. you can only do so much mob-related stories after 10+ years. they get a good couple going like LIRIC and they killed it. now that one had chemistry, potential, love, a real soap love story. now they’re jerking us around with half couples…like jason/liz; ric was involved with a latino woman and i blinked and that one disappeared, but that entire story was strange to begin with. he’s multi-talented and they’re not utilizing him properly. then they wiped out the quartermaine storylines so the fun is gone. not enough romance, too many looney people in the looney bin (another recycled storyline), same recycled stories drag on forever (how long have lul’s storyline been going on!), too much violence. the only reason i watch anymore is scrubs. luke/laura are old, lulu’s mental storyline is old, zachharas are old. however, i did love the fun stuff with the sopranos dude. that was a funny story that cracked me up with all the mob people acting silly for a change. we need stories with much substances, more intrigue.
i have watched gh for a long time now.bring the real brenda back that was there before not someone new.luke and laura use to be my favorite when they were running from the law or some gang member or something like that.when it starts getting good you take that away and startwith something else.
If Vanessa can’t (or won’t) return then DO NOT bring back the character of Brenda. There is no point unless VM is portraying her.
As far as all of the complaints about the writing, I watch several soaps and they ALL go through these “slump” periods. I suffered through GH in the 80’s with the silliness of Casey The Alien and other storylines that were anything but memorable and if you are a true fan you just have to hang in there and wait for the “good stuff” to return because it usually does.
My main beef right now is that it looks like the writers are going to have Luke stay with Tracy. Anyone who watches GH KNOWS Luke would NEVER chose ANYONE over his beloved “Angel”!

Replace VM with AM, maybe the rating will pickup. I’m also so tired of all these mob story lines! I want Jason and Elizabeth to work out, I hate Sam and i hate they are putting her in scences with Jason again. Sam and Lucky can work out. Carly and Jax need to be together, Sonny and kate need to go away forever and take Nadine with them.
More scences with Alexis and Diane, they work well together. I love Claudia, if they can’t get rid of Sonny, he should marry her. Again, more Jason and Elizabeth. Jason deserves a personal life without interruptions.
Don’t replace Brenda with anyone else, but Vanessa Marcil. She is the only person who should play Brenda! Get rid of the mob! I have said this time and again, the mob is bringing this show down! Get back to the doctors and nurses at the hospital. I love Jason and Sam together. Elizabeth needs to be with Rick! They were a great couple. Get rid of Claudia, Olivia, Kate and the rest of these new people they are not needed! And finally, get some black longterm contract characters on this show! It is 2008 and this show is still racist!
If the writing doesn’t improve, GH’s ratings will continue to slide. Most of the viewers, who have commented on the Brenda issue, want Sam and Jason back together. I agree.
If Lucky wasn’t portrayed as such a loser, he’d be perfect for Liz.
Carly, Lulu and Nadine all need better lines.
Their characters are all over the top and totally unappealling.
Maxie is great but does Spinnelli have to be so socially inept.
GH should try some new combinations. Sonny and Olivia, Nicholas and Claudia could bring conflict, romance and spontaneity to a very predictable show.
The show will not last if it continues to revolve around Robin’s character. The writing for her character is agenda driven, boring and predictable. Her character will win the daytime Emmy for most unappealling female in a poorly written show.
I think they should go back and concentrate on the great couples and let them be happy for a while – Robin/Patrick, Jason/Liz would be a great story if jason would leave the Mob. Carly/Jax were really good together or Caryl/Sonny. I really enjoy the Robin/Patrick/Anna/Scorpio storys. Patrick is a great actor. I am very disappoined that this year was the last super soap weekend. WHY????

GH should have NEVER broke up Sam and Jason. They are MEANT to be together! I enjoyed watching him rescue her and hoped he would have jumped in the sack with her. Then SHE gets pregnant with HIS kid and oh wow think of the possibilities! There is NO chemistry between her and Lucky. It was better with Lucky and the whiny little Elizabeth. I miss Emily and LOVED Laura on the show. I agree Luke has worn out his welcome. LuLu and Johnny are GREAT and we need a better storyline for them! I would miss Sonny’s dimples but he is becoming a pain! Bring back the Mafia guy from Sopranos and let him kill off the Russians! Let Sonny make love with Kate not war! or her cute cousin! What the heck he has a kid with her already! GET Jax and Carly back together!!! Just my 2 cents!
Oh and I forgot, I love Robin and Patrick and his newfound Brother Matt. Bringing someone to replace Brenda? WHO CARES about Brenda? She never really excited me on the show. I would rather see Maxie’s Mother Felicia return and get some steam going again. Bring back her husband! Anna is a skinny bore, Spinelli I love, Maxie is GREAT! Have I covered them all? Oh yes, Nicholas and that dimwit are kinda cute. I MISS Emily!!
Jason and Liz are meant to be!! Jason and Sam was the WORST couple GH has had! I just wish they are able to be a family..
I agre with both Julie and Dawn. Jason and Sam are soo threw. LEt Liz/Jason have a relationship outside of sneaking and hiding from the world. Jason can save every other woman(Sam), but he can’t protect his true love? Sam/Lucky are cute, but I hate Sam and her time is up. Carly/Jax great together.

Vanessa Marcil is the ONLY Brenda…now that her show is cancelled…Lipstick Jungle is over…maybe there’s a chance she will return…Jax & Carly are over now, so maybe now’s the time for Jax & Brenda to try and figure things out.
I want to see something with Jason & Liz…he loves her, and she loves him…I hate the way Sam blames Jason for everything when she was just as much to blame for their breakup as Jason was…I hope they never get back together.
The BEST pairing on this show is SONNY & JASON! I want to see them put their friendship back together…they were as close as brothers and trusted each other above all else…I miss their friendship, inside or outside the mob….I don’t care, but I want them to stop being enemies!
They are writing this show as if it was for men with all these MOB wars. Fire the writers and get a new team ,Brenda is not going to lift the ratings what is wrong with these people on GH dont they get it
No need to replace Brenda – wouldn’t work. If Vanessa came back that would be great, but to replace her with someone else,I don’t think it would even matter.
Leave Luke w/ Tracy, Leave Jax w/ Carly, I like Sam w/ Jason the best. Sonny & Jason were a team. Love Maxi Love Spinelli, could he develop a little more social sence – I don’t know how they all keep from falling over with laughter during taping. Love Matt, now who can he be paired up with – Maxi, maybe!
You got be a kidding me? VM blows away Milano. Milano was hot in her day, but VM in the 90’s was probably the hottest female in soap histroy. Milano will take Brenda down a notch or 2 because she doesn’t look as good nor is she as good a actress as VM.
