Having joined together to form the SOS/Save Our Soap! GENERAL HOSPITAL Campaign, fans of Sonny and Kate, Jason and Elizabeth, Patrick and Robin, and Jax and Carly share a common goal in asking ABC/Disney to listen to the viewers and make changes.
Over 12,000 postcards have already been sent to ABC/Disney executives to that end. All involved in this campaign want GH to be successful and want to help restore GH to the position it once held. However, as one fan stated, “women, who are the backbone of GH’s viewership, and obviously the most important demographic, resent being virtually banned from their TV screens by being forced to endure the degradation of strong, independent and professional female characters in favor of showcasing immoral, manipulative, lying female characters on a day-to-day basis.
Women viewers have had enough and have decided that GH is no longer entertaining or enjoyable to watch and the ratings reflect that.”

Well i’ll tell you one thing if elizabeth and jason get back together i’m done with the show.. I love Sam and Jason and will watch everyday faithfully if they are on.. People who are in my age range, which there is a lot, want to see the power couple back together again.. If they put them back together then GH will lose a lot of fans again!!!
Here’s a concept for faltering ratings: GET RID OF THE MOB!!! It’s one thing to have the ocassional mob thing going on but EVERY.SINGLE.DAY??? Those of us who are longtime viewers are SICK of it. The Q’s have been erradicated! Luke cheated on Laura? Yeah, way to rewrite history. Sonny & his merry women (and band of thugs), yeah, this is REALLY entertaining. You want better ratings? Restore GH to what it used to be. About the Q’s, Spencers, Scorpios, Cassadines, etc. Not this mob BS! And for God’s sake stop getting rid of the GOOD actors you have on the show. Shame on u for not bringing Genie Francis, Stuart Damon & Lynn Herring, to name a few, back! If u want better ratings, get creative w/ the writing and stop bringing in new, inane characters that are nothing but eye candy! Talent counts too!
The thing that bothers me is the character changes for one. WHY did they bring in a new Michael? I like the new one, but I love a character like Robin’s that we watch grow up on screen and Dylan did a good job. I am also a Sam-Jason fan. I think they are just great together and have a mutual understanding of one another. I think some things get repeated unnecessarily “michael’s shooting” is repeated every 3 or 4 sentences. We know he was shot. There are a million ways to talk about something without repeating the phrase. Oh, and I LOVE Olivia and Johnny together. Very hot couple!

I hate all this moving of Michael around, and yes way too many strong career women. It just seems like they keep doing the same story over and over, dragging them out. We finally get to see more Alexis and what do they do ruin her credibility. It would be nice to see Sonny commit to one women and really settle down, he’s nailed almost every women on the show.
The only story I have really liked lately is Dominic meeting his siblings and the scenes with Johnny and Olivia.
I can live with The Mob. Sometimes I even find myself laughing at Sonny. So stupid. And I do love my Max & Milo.
Nothing compares to a storyline that isn’t moving along. Or makes much sense.
IMO its painful to watch this nonsense with Sequel girl. Marble Mouth. And the writers have completely ruined the character of Nik. I roll my eyes and hit the FF button when I see them come on.

Oh, where to begin. I echo most of the comments above. I don’t mind the mob, at least there is some action. How about shorter story arcs so we get some closure. Why can’t our writers write more like prime time: a story that has a beginning, a middle and an end so we get some pay off. How about more witty remarks, like Johnny had when he and Jason were getting ready for a shoot-out, OR like Dominic when he was in the woods with Morgan. It’s not 1960 and this doesn’t have to be our Grandmother’s Soap Opera, times change and the producers and writers should open their eyes and see what works out there in TV fantasy land.
Hmm…I love General Hospital. However, I can see why they are currently experiencing low ratings. It’s simply the writing. It seems that the writers come up with great ideas, puts it into action, but a quarter into the action, they come up with another direction. It is simply annoying. To me it seems like a story line never fully develops and concludes lately. The campaign should be for the writers to stop allowing their writing to become disoriented. Also, stop throwing out of the world left hooks. Degrading Alexis in such a manner, behind the scene, to allow Kristina to verbally attack her is not cool. If you want to make a point about a mothers imperfection, allow the viewers to witness it in a more respectable manner. Situations like that will certainly allow GH viewers to empathize with the actors. I have so much more issues with General Hospital, but for now I remain a loyal fan. Also, please bring back Jason and Sam, and again, give them a script that will allow the viewers to share in their love. Kelly Monaco is such is strong actor, work with her talent.
why are people campaigning for couples it is the whole show and i do not want to see sonny and kate hell no and hell no to liz and jason and hell no to carjax. scrubs is together so is carjax why campaign for those two when they are together.

GH has chosen to make women who come to town and sleep with their Mother’s husband into hero’s. These women also sleep with a lot of other men some marry them under flase names and rob the suckers. I see nothing hero like in these women. They dress these women like two dollar hookers and seem to rewrite the same old story.
I liken the mob because there is action..sorry! Some people always bring up the past characters and that just makes me shake my head b/c the past is the past. My grandmother watched GH and she would have enjoyed the old characters on the show if they were here but THEY ARE NOT so let it go. Out w/old and in with the new. Everyone’s love of the Q’s is crazy b/c most of them are gone and when the few that get air time show up it’s the same old redundant lines. Last, and this drives me crazy, why GH doesn’t use Alexis more is why their ratings have soured. I have said this before..how do you play a “game” w/o one of your best players and expect to win? If you don’t know what I am talking about when it comes to Alexis take a gander at this which, to me, is the greatest acting I have ever seen on GH. Alexis was amazing and this sceen gives me the chills!!

I like these couples and Sonny and Kate are the best of all. I don’t mind the mob stories but GH needs to bring back romance, lasting relationship, friendship to keep the balance.
Write stories for strong women like Kate, Tracy, Robin and Alexis. Get rid of women like Claudia and Rebecca. Stop changing the history of the characters and the show. Use their talented and fan base actors.

Gh is lossing viewers because of the poor writing. I love all the actors. but even they can save the Turkey that GH has become. You have to be kidding!! How are women who sleep with their mothers husdands heros. How is a women who married five men just to rob them a hero. I stopped watching GH years ago, after watching it all my life. Way before Luke and Laura, I was a fan. But I stopped watching because it became the Carly show. What a great role model she is. And she just keeps winning I guess. Five years ago, I couldn’t stand it any longer and stopped watching. This week, I tuned in again. The woman who used to play Carly many years ago is now Claudia. The woman who used to be Emily ( not the original) is now Rebecca. Sonny is once again living with a woman he hates because she is pregnant with his child (he thinks). This is an exact replica of years ago. The slutty ridiculous women end up with the rich stupid guys for the most age-old of reasons. And on this soap it just keeps working. I had wanted Jason with Elizabeth forever when I was watching. Now, apparently they were together and I totally missed it.
The new Brenda character is named Sam. I mean come on, have the writers had an original thought in the last 10 years? I love the mob stuff, Sonny and Jason’s friendship and all. But I also loved the comedy of the Quartermains and Luke. He was great. Why don’t we have more Alexis? Where did she get more than one daughter? She and Sonny had the funniest chemistry when she was his attorney. Of course, Carly ruined that also.
This was at one time the best show on all day.
But come on, how many times do people come back from the dead? Has anybody ever had sex on this show without getting pregnant? And why are all the men portrayed as so damned stupid? Unless it changes a whole lot I can’t see myself coming back.
I totally get what you’re saying and yes, sadly, General Hospital has lost its former glory. It has done that before and come back – whether or not it will come back again this time, no one can say.
Since Meg Bennett has been put on as a writer, the show has a lot more humor than it had, and there’s more coming. Also right now, Alexis has a storyline, more than she’s had, and we’re seeing a lot more of the Quartermaines.
Luke is still around and funny with Tracy, though many people don’t like what’s going on with the character.
I think on most soap operas, dead people don’t stay dead, and sex followed by pregnancy is pretty common. In those details, GH isn’t really different from other soaps.
Sam isn’t really like Brenda at all, at least to me.
Laura Wright is doing a great job as Carly, and many people are unhappy with the character of Claudia and that whole marriage.
Bottom line – the story lines are NOT fresh in any way. They show no imagination. I predict a change will come within the next six months because the network is miserable. If you look at GH’s history, this has happened before.
Soaps are not what they were, and they’re probably never going to be again. But here’s hoping GH will be rethought and improved. I see little (and I emphasize little) signs of hope here and there. The karaoke night that’s occurring next week on the show looks promising, the character of Diane Miller is great, they are showing more Quartermaines, they’ve just hired another new writer – I hope they hit paydirt soon.
The poor ratings in my opinion began with the summer of sleaze and how far GH went to rewrite history to pimp Jiz! In addition to the Quartermaine clan becoming scarce and infiltrated by Luke Spencer most of diehard fans are just bored. Bring back the nurses ball, bring back Ned and reunite JaSam as equal partners in crime
Why they changed the show to a mob oriented mostly show I don’t know. Gone are the days of exciting storylines where you made sure to record every day in case you were out and missed it. Some of the story lines are just stupid and boaring frankly. Where are the Q’s and the crazy things that they used to do? Michael now, you have got to be kidding me! What a shame that they let the show go down the drain like that with so much junk now. Not one story line has my attention anymore, not one!
Where do you start with this one. I have been a fan since 1978 and things have really changed. The mob should stay because it is the center of the show other than the hospital. This storyline keeps things poppin from time to time.

All of these comments/complaints have the same common denominator. GUZA!! The writer’s and producers need to be held accountable for lousy scripts. I’ve seen fan-fic with better imagination then what’s been airing. General Hospital season 2 was a breath of fresh air. That show was what GH was 20 years ago. Good stories. Fast paced storylines. Great casting and acting. Where are the Night Shift writing and producing team? Replace Guza with Sri Rao and I guarantee a great show!
Whatever happened to the Nurse’s Ball and showing the other talent of the stars? I miss Bobbie and Monica. We don’t need another “Luke”. Ethan is not a character I can warm up to and please give Lucky another storyline other than always being angry at Luke. He and Elizeth should never split. I like Liz with Jason but he and Sam went through so much with their illnesses. There’s still a strong bond even though he and Liz conceived Jake when both of them had been cheated on by their soulmates. Jax and Carly are okay but Michael needs to chill now. Let him learn something from being in a coma for a year instead of wanting to get into the mob business. And I love Sarah but I am so tired of Claudia and getting away with her part in the shooting. Morgan and Michael need to have a normal bother relationship. Also Mack needs a storyline and a woman in his life. Why is he always short changed in the romance department? The writers really need to regroup and bring back the glory of GH because it is nothing like before. The writers on the nightime GH had it together.
They had a certain amount of time to bring stories together with an ending and GH could do the same if the writers would get off their duffs and do what they need to do to get GH back on the right track. Oh yes, a new man for Monica and Bobbie.
I will start back watching when Jason and Liz are back together. Obviously the viewers want the same thing because they have had Jason and Sam in the same scenes and the ratings are still down.
Get creative and start some fresh story lines. I’ve watched for over 25 years and the resemblance of past stories are tiresome. Loved the WSB in addition to hospital related stories, not so much the mob, not that I don’t want to see Sonny or Jason out of a storyline.

I have been a loyal GH’er for thirty years, I can barely watch now, that Megan Ward has been replaced by the “good’ Claudia, Olivia is a bore, when she became Mother Thersa I left, catch up with it on the web, I never thought I would give up on GH, But to have finally loved maurice Bernard when the Kate story was being told, Now I do not even like the Sonny character anymore, yes there are many of us on Save Our Soap and if they don’t listen GH will become a new game show.

I have to say i have been watcing general hospital for for over 30 yrs and i am 46, so i see the pattern with this soap, enough with the jason, sonny mob. I have a lotof women friends, we all love sonny and jason alone, but with all the violence in the world as of the past several years, I think this criminal gun slinging storyline is not only so boring to watch, but doesn’t make what we are trying to solve in the us as far as violence, enough with it, people are sick of it, and if anyone isn’t, you need to have a little more things in your life to keep you on your toes.I can’t say enough how i believe and a lot of others i took talk, who have stopped watching it, keep sonny and jason, change them around, you would be surprised to see how many people would love to see jason, turn around and like the old jason, he has a lot to give, he is wasting his talent, even though i am sure he is many good money playing this part for years, give him a life, family laughter, My sonny someone we can look up to. I don’t even see where they have the nerve the writers to have his son want to be just like his dad, how sad the writers are going with this. I don’t think kate was that interesting, i didn’t like her, sam is getting old and boring. robin a nd patrick haven’t even been married a year, they feel like the biggest boring couple around. I have to say besides carly, not so much jax, that the couple i can see really moving into a good storyline is maxie and spinelli, because that storyline, is not only real to what happen in life, but i adoe maxie, she is fun sweet, sexy, and intriging. Spinelli could have an awesome part, if they fixed him up with a new wardrobe, cut his hair righttoned down his sqeeky voice, and stop with all his crazy names he call’s people they can not only be a great couple, but real life people can see it’s not just looks, you need in a man, it’s charm love humor, and someone as sweet as spinelli, and it can take a girl like maxie, who was once very selfish, hurtful, mean, and give her the confidence to see there is more in life than what she would settle for, which spinelli can do for her, he brings out her inner soul. I think alexis is boring, even with this plot now. I like the qaurtermines, monica, edward, tracy, luke, his storyline is really boring since laura 10 or so years ago, and that new kid ethen, boring, i liked emily, but it will never feel the same that she is rebecca, because watching nickolaus with her makes him so needy for his past love emily, they need to fix it over, and make her emily, i am sure the could come up with a real plot, like when they bring back the dead. General Hospital get to work, fast.
The mob stories are getting to be too much. GH needs to go in a different direction or get new writers. Jason and Sam are good together. Michael is beyond annoying. He’s playing everyone like a fine violin. Who are the adults anyway?
I forgot to mention how that crazy claudia, has a sick part, she was a way better carly, i think she is a good actress. I also think liz and lucky should go on a long vacation to another soap, boring. Monica needs a hot boyfriend, bobbi is totally gone, without any goodbye, she is in it twice a year. The mayor floyd deal stinks with his wife, bring back storylines like in the late 70’s early 80’s like when crazy heather and her nutty mother were in it, it’s a turn off enough violence we hate it, get rid of it.

I have watched GH since my mother introduced it to me when I was 12 in the 1960’s. I introduced my daughter when she was 12…and now we are die-hard fans. We are sad that the show has turned so smutty. Cursing is second nature now and talk of raw sex is flagrant. We always new what went on…but creatively left to the imagination. “Bitch” must be a word you can call anyone you are mad at. What happened to the romance…courting…and passion the couples once had. Now they change so frequently I can hardly keep up. What happened to the antics that the Lucy Coes’ and the Tracy Qs’ once had. Where are the real MOTHER’s that have values and morals and are believable characters…and what is this with the kids on GH aging so quickly…michael from 12 to 17 in 1 yr. geez!! and then have to age all of Sonny’s other kids too who are all of a sudden nothing like their younger versions. That was a BIG mistake. Also, the mob stuff is ok…but tone it down a notch. Let’s see more character building things and maybe bring back the mystery…like the old days when not every scene was a “roll in the hay” and not every female character was a “Bitch”!
The only way to improve rating now is to reunite Jason with Elizabeth her children. This couple is surely the super couple of this show, and the writers need to listen to their fans and give them a great story line. This pathetic s/l with Jason going back with nutcase Sam after threatening to kill her for her acts against the love of his life and her children, is ridiculous. Reunite Jason and Elizabeth and give the show a fighting chance.!
How can you get rid of the “Mob” when the mob forms three-fourths of the story? Perhaps it started out as a hospital soap opera, but now the hospital only comes into play when there’s been a spat of mob violence. Frankly, I like the show for all its changes… I wish they would allow Claudia to turn over a new leaf and be a really great mom to her child, and I wish Sonny would find out somehow that he likes Claudia, because I do think they are good together. I think Jason and Sam still have chemistry, particularly after today’s show when Sam showed up wearing her strip club waitress outfit and platform heels! I like Dominic’s (Dante) assessment of where he
might fit in, and loved it when he told Jason he was “basically a walking target.” Still love all the young people, especially Spinelli and Maxi and Lulu et al. Perhaps allow the characters, such as Rebecca, to do the right thing a little more often and a little sooner would help. I’ll probably continue watching no matter what …
I have been watching this show since i was 12, and i have to admit, it was better then. I am almost 14 now, and even though i am older, the language, and all the sex talk has really gotten on my nerves. I mean, yes its okay to do all of that, but dont make it the whole show! As for the mob, HOW CAN YOU TAKE IT OUT? there would be no danger anymore, and frankly, not as much excitment. The other thing that bothered me is that when michael came out of his coma, he wass all of a sudden 17. If i remember, he was about 12 when he was shot. And since he grew up, morgan, Kristina, and molly had to. I like the whole Domminic (Dante) story, since it is something I havnt seen yet. Other than the set-ups being predictible, i am still interested and a loyal fan.
Although she is a good actress, I think the change in ratings was due in part to the character of Kate. I have watched the show since it came on the air and this is the first time I lost interest. I love Jax and Carly together but long for Robert Scorpio who was always my favorite when he was on the Show except when they made him look actually silly the last time he was on the show with Anna and Robin.
I would love to see Jason lose his memory and go back to being a Quartermaine. But he would still know how to take care of himself, Sam and the Q’s. Wouldn’t that be something? How long would Sonny be on top and have time to have sex with all the women on the show. He would be too busy saving her crime boss status. Yes, we need things like the nurses ball etc to give us a break from the drama. Not everyone in town has to be angry or depressed at the same time.

General Hospital wouldn’t be General Hospital without it. I think one of the worst times I have ever seen on that show was when Sonny left the mob. It just didn’t seem right!
I am a total Jason and Sam fan. I would like to see the get back together but you never know what can happen. I think they need another Jerry adventure down the road. It would be interesting if Sam and Jason actually did have a child together. (twins even) However, somehow have Jerry doing something to mess them up , not another child kidnapping but maybe kidnapping Sam.. Or Have Sam loose he memory this time . I am a non offficial writer for GH and one thing I’d like to note; is that when I see all your nasty comments about how the show is presently doing, I am not inspired to write anything better for you, Try somwe appreciation for what you have and you will see better things in the future, keep complaining and we will think you are just a bunch of spoiled brats who are not worthy to have your comments listened to.
For example, I recently wrote an interesting story for Luke and Laura but they rejected it because they could not get Genie Francis to come back for it. She was busy doing other projects when they needed her. So I said well why don’t you just recast Laura Spencer. It’s a Luke and Laura story not a Genie Francis story. “Oh no” they said “the fans will kill us for that too. You can’t have it both ways. If you want good stories that tie in with the past storylines on GH you have to start appreciating the recasting of characters more. It is not practical to make actors come to the set when they don’t want to do it. And that’s really what you guys are asking for.
I sympathize with Karen said in April 2010, particularly given their dependence on the availability of the actors. being a soap writer is probably not an easy job and they undoubtedly face constraints we fans are unaware of. Not everything is bad about the current show, which after all must change with the times. That said, much of the criticism of GH in recent years voiced here and elsewhere rings true.
In particular for me it comes down to the current show’s seeming lack of respect for established GH characters, families, long term stories built around the hospital etc. This ultimately is a lack of respect for long-time fans that have watched GH. I could single out numerous instances or characters that have disappeared or killed off but that has been covered elsewhere. But for me, this shows best in their poor treatment of Robert and Anna Scorpio, my personal favorites, starting with Anna on AMC (not GH’s fault but still) but continuing with their most recent GH appearances. The way in which they were brought back to GH demonstrated the powers that be did not understand these characters, did not understand their well established history with each other which would have made the depicted state of their relationship impossible had they wrote true to the characters, and hence failed to get why they had ever been popular or what the fans would want to see — which ultimately is that they are together, have been with lots of love, some adventure and good humor.

Thanksgiving is 1 of my favorite holidays, and every yr I like to get into the mood-extend the holiday, since it were-by reading “Thanksgiving novels.” Not surprisingly, most of these stories are mostly about family and friends, about coming together to heal old hurts and giving them thanks for the gift of love. . -
Have You Been Much better Off Today Than You Were two Yrs Ago?
Can 90% of the fans posting comments on these boards be wrong? Can most of the soap writers writing in the past 5 years be wrong? Can the continued ratings decline be wrong? It’s as if the powers that be are living in a vacuum and are content to put out not just mediocre product, but product that is demeaning to women and insulting to character’s history.
I completely Mark, and now on top of that we have them killing off babies in order to push the ligitimacy of another pairing. I came late to this whole debate as I am changing careers and now going to scholl fulltime and so started to tune in after years of absence. I am stunned at how bad the writing and plot lines are, how they have trashed charecters to the point that they are just unlikable, degrated women to the point that they are either morally bankrupt, sleavy, stalkers, or weak baby machines.
Histories are ignored completely or attempted to be whitewashed in order to support some new plotline, charecters are written completely in opposition to their established moral code and there is no such thing as stability, love, romance or plain fun. It’s like these writers are trying to create a Son’s of Anarchy for the day time (a show I actually like by the way…but is written a hell of of lot better and is approperate for it’s night time cable audience.) This is daytime tv where to great writers of their day understood that people tune in to ongoing stories about charecters who fall in love, have families, get ino trouble, have crazy adventures, etc. It does not hae to be all balloons and sunshine but it should have some happy endings, have plots that move foward, have people over come tragedy, learn along the way…but at the end of the day it should mke you feel okay.
Again this is daytime….love in the afternoon escape tv…not “the true housewives of orange county.”

I think that they should have Sonny & Jason change sides by being secret undercover agents like Robert Scorpio was.He got rid of brime off the streets with the help of someone like luke.They thought the teens that it pays to do the right thing,but instead they galmorize killing.By having them change sides this could be part of their probation,by clearing the city of crime.They need better story lines,that will keep you on the edge of your seat watching.They need to give the older actors better parts,bring back characters like Monica,Alan,Bobby,Scotty,Robert,Jeff Webber.Balance the actors time more,don’t just concentrate on the teen or young actors.Some of the teens or younger generation,will quit watching when they find that once they hit a certain age that they are no longer important.Quit firing or killing off the good actors,that ruins a shows ratings.Don’t take months to solve a mystery ,the viewer will lose interest.Cut love scenes in half,they can become boring especially if all the characters have a love scene.Give us something to laugh about,it doesn’t always have to be about real life,we get enough of that already.Hope someone will listen to the fans.

BECAUSE IN REAL LIFE PEOPLE DO PAY FOR THEIR CRIME.I KNOW SOME OF THE JASAM FAN WANT THEM TOGETHER BUT YOU ARE SO SELFISH IN YOUR OWN LUST YOU CANNOT SEE STRAIGHT BUT I UNDERSTAND THOUGH IF YOU ALL GUYS GET TOGETHER AND STOP LOOKING AT THE GARBAGE ON SOAP AND START READING THE NEWPAPER AND LOOKED AT THE NEWS ABOUT MISSING CHILDREN AND ADULT THAN YOU WOULDN/T TAKE THEIR SCENES LIKELY. I UNDERSTAND YOU GUYS WANT THESE COUPLES TOGETHER BUT WHAT ABOUT THE CRIMINAL ACT SHE PULL WHEN SHE WATCH A BOY GET KIDNAPPED. WHAT FATHER AND OR EITHER MOTHER IN THEY RIGHT MIND WOULD GO BACK TO A WOMAN AND WATCH HIS SON GET KIDNAPPED YOU GUYS BETTER TAKE THE TIME OUT AND LOOK AT THE BARN SCENES THE CONVERSATION THAT ELIZABETH AND JASON HAD AND LOOKED AT THE SCENES 6/29/07 IT’S VERY VERY IMPORTANT TO LOOK AT THAT I HOPE YOU JASAM FANS WHO HAVE CHILDREN DO NOT EXPERIENCE THAT IN REAL LIFE BECAUSE IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANYBODY OUT THEIR AND YOU GUYS TAKEN IT L IKELY.
