Watching karaoke night (which lasted, what, three episodes) on General Hospital got me thinking.
I remember when I interviewed John Wesley Shipp that he told me that he sang the song "You Needed Me" (I think) everywhere on The Guiding Light - in the shower, outdoors, indoors, in bed, you name it, the fans heard him.
Even casually flipping channels past The Bold and the Beautiful, one couldn't miss Jack Wagner singing "Dancin' in the Moonlight." He seemed to sing it constantly.
Old-timers will certainly remember Dr. Tony Jones (Brad Maule), in his white coat at GH, singing "Not a Day Goes By." I can't remember the situation that would have caused him to break into song in the middle of the hospital, but stranger things have gone on there.
I think General Hospital should incorporate more singing into the show. I hope karaoke night isn't a one-time thing and that some other characters will get up and sing. The show seriously needs to lighten up, and this is one way to do it. Let Brandon Barash belt out a few - he's a wonderful performer. Nikolas should try his hand at crooning. He and Lucky should also sing a duet.
I say bring it on once in a while. Let's face it, at this point, it can't hurt. It might even help.

I was so happy that Spinelli finally sang! It was nice but they dragged it all on a little long – even for a soap opera.
I liked maxie and the pussycats. I love robin no matter what she does. She is a gh vet! But please get rid of spinelli and the mob!
I loved the singing and the light heartedness of the whole thing. What a relief to have some happy moments instead of miscarriages and guns. Must admit I did get a kick out of Claudia smacking Sonny. Gutsy chick. He looked plenty surprised. Give Jason and Sam more air time.. Was so cute when Maxi and Spanelli got it going on. Everyone kept saying what is that noise.
While the young and restless is at the top of ratings with good writing and great acting, general hospital continues to stay at the bottom with silliness, mobs and bad writing. No wonder this show is sinking!
I absolutely loved when the singing took place. Robin and Patrick were great and when Spinelli finally belted out “I wanna know what love is” it, this is cheesy to say, gave me the chills because in his whacky way Spinelli’s love for “Maximista” is beautiful because it is so real. Now that is coming from a male that is not gay. I hope they do more stuff like that and they need to find more lines for Coleman b/c he is hilarious!!
I am desperate to know where the clothes that Maxie wears come from…they dress her so stylish and trendy and after every outfit I say, where can I buy that dress, top, shoes…etc..if anyone knows PLEASE RESPOND!!!!

I agree with paul. General hospital needs to take a look at young and restless and stop these silly storylines.
To the homophobe guy, i am proud to be gay and watch all of the hot guys on the show! More jason, sonny, milo, mac,dante, lucky, coleman,jax, matt and nick please! They could make it an all guy show!
My husband (who I can assure is not gay) watches GH with me most evenings. Nicholas is one of his fav characters simply because in his words ‘that guy can act his way out of any box they put him in’. We both think the show drags a lot but The mob/action stuff keeps him interested. I wish the arcs were shorter with a quicker payoff and that we could see more of all the characters and story on canvas – maybe that is cost prohibitive in the short term but in the long term may help save the show. As far as karaoke goes…we have never been to karaoke with so little singing. We were hoping for more display of talent a la Nurses Ball. Keep it going and let’s have some fun!!
Ps we BOTH think GH has the hottest cast on daytime tv and that has nothing to do with sexual preferance… just observation
Scrubs “Time of My Life” duet was too cute! I agree with the previous post…Spin’s singing debut was a little drawn out, but BA has a wonderful singing voice. Hopefully GH will keep Kareoke Night alive. I would love to see Toussaint croon to Epiphany or Sonny and Jason do a duet…I’m thinkingSammy and Dean Brat Pack.
AMEN!!! I LOVED the episode where Spinelli FINALLY got the courage to sing to his Maximista! I cried as it was sooooooo moving and geniune. I love the character of Colemam too, and they REALLY need to make him a regular and LIGHTEN up the plot lines. And coulde we PPPLLLEEEAASEE see Steve Burton break out into a FULL Smile and maybe even a laugh at some point. Steve Burton is HOT and one (if not the ONLY one right now) who is keeping viewers tuning in
remember when Lucky, Nicolas and GINA sang for GH fundraiser, of course it was the other Lucky, but they did great so what I don’t get is why didnt at least Nicolas sing, GH ,please dont go away, I love you and think u are GREAT, Great actors, great storylines, and comedy w Jason and others , Alexis/Diane is fabulous, it adds character, great job, please don’t cancel the one show that I enjoy watching for the last 20 years
now Days u can cancel cause that dumb show is nothing but kids and has gone down hill ever since Marlena turned into the devil
My hubby also watches GH with me on Tivo. We love it and it is never boring. Lately I want to smack Sonny myself for being so mean to Claudia. I want to see her character get some RESPECT! She has given up so much for that SOB. I hope her baby lives and she has love and happiness in her life finally. I also love Lucky and want to see MORE of him!

Josie, I too love Maxie’s clothing, especially the sweater set she had on July 1 episode. It was teal in color. I cannot get anyone to tell me who is the maker and where I can find it! She has the best clothing of all.
Karaoke was fun, and the Spinelli/Maxie scenes were superb–but I still remember all Nurse’s Ball excitement! Please, GH, bring back the Ball and all the shining star performances, and some good sub-plots to go with it. Please?

OK, when spinelli first appeared on GH, it was funny. Now it has gotten old and tiresome.
The character has become obnoxious and annoying. I find myself fast forwarding his parts. Can you think of changing the character a bit, at least have him speak plain english. Anyone else agree?
