It's All Over for 'Emily: The Sequel' on 'GH'
Natalia Livingston (Rebecca Shaw) is leaving General Hospital and will take her black eye pencil and dark eye shadows with her. The character of Rebecca is being axed.
ABC Daytime, in a statement, has said that "Natalia has decided to pursue other projects." This means that either Natalia Livingston wants to leave the show, or that General Hospital is getting rid of Rebecca and Natalia with her.
Rebecca Shaw appeared in Port Charles in January 2009, during the big hospital fire. She turned out to be the blond, heavily made up, rough talking con artist twin of the late Emily Quartermaine. Emily's death coincided with Natalia Livingston's departure from GH on May 7, 2008.
There was speculation in recent weeks, in fact, that Rebecca would actually turn out to be Emily (probably with amnesia), but it is not to be. It is unclear how far writers are planning to take the Nikolas-Elizabeth relationship, or if Elizabeth will wind up with Lucky, but in either case, Rebecca is now a third wheel and out the door.

I love Natalia and while I am sad to see her go, I’m glad Rebecca is leaving. I was excited when Rebecca was first brought on under such a cloud of mystery. As her story unfolded I became more and more disappointed with the character, the reveal of her relationship to Emily, and everything else that followed. I hope Rebecca does not leave town the same way Emily did as it would be nice to have Natalia back in the future, but please not in a third role. I would welcome the return of Rebecca if the story were better. Good Luck Natalia!
She’s a good actress, but I thought bringing her back was a mistake and never changed my mind. I’m still sorry she decided to leave the first time. The twin never worked for me.
It was stupid to kill off Emily in the first place. But it seems that General Hospital Executives are making one bone head move after the other.
I agree about killing Emily off…and most characters for that matter! Can’t characters just leave town?? There’s usually enough reason to. I was pleasantly surprised that Ric left town and was not killed off. I think it’s lazy of the writers to just kill a character ESPECIALLY when it’s a beloved character/actor. If it’s a character that’s completely unpopular and not a fit for the show…go ahead and kill them if it makes sense storywise. If it’s a character/actor that the writers/producers would want back it makes no sense to kill then off. It’s as if the showrunners think if they don’t kill off the character they should recast and choose the lesser of two evils. Newsflash, if you can’t find a suitable recast, it’s perfectly realistic for a character to move to a new city, state, country. You would think they would learn there lessons when disasters such as Rebecca are shoved down our throats. I probably would have taken to her more if she was of no relation to Emily and a legitimate new character similar to Sarah Brown coming back to play Claudia.
On that note, please don’t kill of Claudia.
I did not like her as emily or rebecca. Good riddance! As far as Jonathan Jackson goes he is so young looking, he still looks 16. I miss Greg Vaughn as Lucky. And I agree, why do they have to kill people off? They should have let Justice, Allan, Tony, Emily and Zander just leave town. That way they could bring them back without a ridiculous plot.
Im so glad that Rebecca is leaving,i couldnt stand her nor could i stand Emily,And hopefully next they will get rid of Robin & Elizbeth,They do nothing exciting,they all act goody goody but do nothing for the ratings,time for new faces.

I hate that Sarah Brown is leaving GH AGAIN. But when the execs wake up out of this trans I hope that she will come back AGAIN as the REAL CARLY Roberts. Not the one that Laura Wright plays. Many may not know but Laura’s character is really Caroline Benson who had a friend named Carly Roberts. I know that Carly is supposed to be dead but heck, they are bringing everyone else back from the grave. Now to me that would have been a great storyline when they initially brought Sarah back.
I love Natalia too but she didn’t get any good material to work with.

I love Claudia and am so sad to see her go. She brought such a spark to GH and that mean old rotten Sonny should go. He said the most horrible things to her and unforgivable about his child with her. She should have shot him right there in the room. I hope she kidnaps Carlys baby to teach him a lesson but the writers are going to kill off the beautiful Sara Brown and leave us wishing she were still here. Emily should never have died. Rebecca got lost in the entire sceme of things. Too bad for she and Nik belong together!!
I thought bringing back Natalia was a mistake, she can’t be Em because she died, maybe they should not have killed her off! Rebecca was a horrible character and useless. What was the point, the money she tried to get is not coming to her Nikolas will see to that, Ethan is dumb for wanting to still be with her and now with the storyline of Nik and Liz coming about, she’s in the way.
Im sooo happy they finally are getting rid of Rebecca/Emily!! Neither of them had a personality. I wish they weren’t getting rid of Claudia though. She was at least interesting. Too bad they killed her off, she could have come back later on. Now lets get rid of some others like-Elizabeth. She is a zero. Adds nothing to the show. Im really sad to see Greg Vaughan go, what a cutie
