'GH' Continues Its Ratings Climb

By November 2, 2012

Follow me on:

A year ago things like mighty sad for General Hospital. No one knows what the new year will bring, but as of now, General Hospital is the #1 program in daytime in women 18-34 for the fourth week in a row, as of the week of October 28.

ABC's lineup looks like a winner.

I agree with you 100 %. The storylines are moving along, there is more humor and less Sonny, Carly and Jason hour. Bringing back the most beloved characters will bring the rating through the roof. I am now wondering if Sabrina is Lucy’s daughter Serena. The names both begin with S. Although Serena was a blond back then. I hope she doesn’t come back empty handed without at least Kevin or Scotty by her side.

I know I’m certainly enjoying GH of late. I had been a defector several years back (after having watched GH from the 60s on) due to the dark, gloomy storylines—-the weight stayed with me after the show was over. I couldn’t take it anymore and left. I decided to give it another chance with the change in regime and I am so glad I did. The warmth, the humor, the one liners, the sense of REAL family not just the MOB “family”—-it is like a breath of fresh air. I still do not watch anything else on ABC daytime, but I will continue tuning in to GH. It feels like the old days again where I couldn’t wait until the next episode to see what will happen next or hear what’s going to come out of their mouths—especially Todd, Luke, Tracy and Monica! Bring back Genie and Kin!!!

Can I ask a silly question??

Why if gh is doing so well, are they coming in #3 in soaps??

Well, LindaH, here’s the thing. GH has been behind Y&R and Bold&Beautiful for some years. It is now just 1/10th of a point behind Y&R.

GH shines as the big 18-49 demographic-getter on ABC daytime and helps make ABC #1 in daytime. Now sometimes it switches places with The View or whatever, but ABC has the prized demographic hooked.
