If some new information is to be believed, ABC has regretted its decision to cancel All My Children and One Life to Live and may be looking at alternatives to return these shows.
In fact, ABC attempted to re-purchase the rights to All My Children One Life to Live from Prospect Park. When the Prospect Park plan tanked, the company tried to extend their rights to find other options, and DisneyABC refused.
Now, don't get your hopes up. If AMC and OLTL return, they won't be returning to the network. But pared-down versions of them may be on cable.
Concerns have been expressed about the new medical reality show being prepared, but the word is that ABC is pleased with the ratings for GH and that a place for the new series will be found elsewhere.
The bottom line is this: Fans, you should all be very proud of your activism. ABC/Disney learned one thing: Don't mess with soap fans.
On the other hand, money talks, and I can't trust ABC/Disney, and you shouldn't either.
Keep on top of the affiliates. Remember, they tell the network whether or not they will accept a replacement show -- or, in the case of SOAPnet, replacing it with a new network. (And SOAPnet is still running in lots of places.)
And GH - keep up the good work!
