In what can only be construed as disrespect, ill-mannered behavior and/or classless and clueless, only five cast members were present on stage with Jill Phelps to accept the award for favorite show, the highest award of the evening. It was General Hospital's 5th victory in this category.Interspersed with the awards were performances by Kassie DePaiva, who crooned a torchy country-flavored love ballad dressed in a black sequined pants, black satin halter top, a performance enhanced by DePaiva's natural Southern accent.
Kurth & Taylor entertained with a fan favorite that they showcased at last year's GH weekend in the gazebo at the California Sportsmen's Lodge, a performance enhanced by acoustics not available at the former outdoor venue. When Kurth immerses himself in his music, he becomes the antithesis of his character Ned on General Hospital: warm, spiritual and engaging.
The 1st Annual Diamond Award for successfully portraying a facets of a character was bestowed upon Susan Lucci for her role as All My Children's Erica Kane. Lucci was engaging as she curled up in her husband Helmut's arms in a tiny string-strapped baby blue muted leopard print dress and watched her character marry nine different husbands and endure a menagerie of transgressions and trials. Longtime costar Walt Willey lauded her 30 plus year marriage, Emmy award winning status, Broadway acclaim and her contributions as an entrepreneur and philanthropist. Lucci eagerly accepted her gift of a platinum and diamond necklace and thanked her loved ones and professional associates for their unwavering love and support.
