There's something called "dramatic license." There's also something called "lazy license." After viewing General Hospital over the last few weeks, I have some questions. They're rhetorical.
WHY
...didn't Edward notice the shovel full of poison Heather put into his orange juice? Even if were tasteless, there was so much of it, a thick paste would have formed at the bottom of the glass. It's not like she stirred it. I'm surprised he ever woke up.
...hasn't Felicia done any investigation of Heather yet and realized she's crazy? She asked to get into the police microfilm ages ago. Don't tell me there was nothing on Heather Webber. And by the way, Felicia, there are plenty of people around who remember Heather's shenanigans. Have you spoken with them?
...was Sonny Corinthos, a man out to kill Faith, allowed to visit her at the PCPD - unsupervised?
...was Justus removed by a judge from Faith's case, and yet any time there were deal offers, etc., it was Justus and not Alexis who informed Faith about them?
...did Sonny, Ric and Alexis join in setting up Faith to take a stupid deal? Ten years in prison is a deal?
...would Steven Lars think to run a DNA test on Carly and compare it to John Durant's DNA? I can certainly see Durant having her fingerprints run. He finds out she's from Florida, she's 29, married to Sonny - maybe he has a DNA test run and compared to his just in case. But how is it that Steven just happens to have a sample of Durant's DNA lying around?
...would Carly show up at her own snazzy club during the dinner hour wearing a jean jacket and looking like she's about to shoot pool at Jake's? This is supposed to be a class place - a place, I remind everyone, that she went to in the middle of the afternoon wearing a red dress. People all dressed up, out for the evening, and oh, there's the owner, the one in denim carrying the shoulder bag.
...would Steven Lars be an expert in infectious diseases and forensics? I'm sure we'll see him in the operating room soon performing brain surgery.
...wouldn't Sonny allow his very sick child to be treated by the hospital expert? Isn't the priority getting his child well? If Steven is indeed trying to "use" Morgan's illness to get in with Carly, then it's a 100% certainty he's not going to let the baby die. I'd be dealing with the gratitude factor problem after the child is back home.
...does Dillon care so much about what Brook looks like?
...does Dillon own the rights to Sage's poem? The law says the following: Ownership of correspondence reverts to the author of said correspondence, or to their estate. Ergo - the owner of Sage's poem is Alcazar, who is the man who signed the rights over. He said as far as he was concerned, the poem belonged to Dillon. But the rights he signed over were to L&B Records, and if they weren't, then L&B would have been pretty stupid not to have Dillon sign the rights over to them before moving forward with their plans. But what am I saying - maybe they are stupid. A little research goes a long way, and it's not like the writers needed that device.
...would the writers send more characters to yet another convent? What is it with these people and nun and priest disguises?
I sometimes wonder if the writers just think, no one will remember we did this before, no one will notice that, yada yada yada. The funny thing is, the fans notice everything. They're not idiots. Funnier still - most of them can come up with fresher plot devices. No one really minds "dramatic license" but sloppiness is something else.
