Since the 1980s, soaps have tried to have "supercouples" - high-profile, popular couples audiences can attach to and follow. These couples don't have it easy: multiple marriages (sometimes to each other), illegitimate children, murder, faked death, disappearance, institutionalization, return from the dead. Let's not forget drug addiction, amnesia, rare illness, even blindness. And what female half of a supercouple hasn't been kidnapped?
