Somebody Yell 'Fire': 'General Hospital' Recap for Friday, September 12, 2008

By Maria Ciaccia, About.com

Spinelli, after presenting Maxie with beautiful flowers, prevails upon her not to leave the penthouse. Maxie is very deprssed over her testimony at Johnny's trial. She's a tramp, and everyone who comes into contact with her becomes tainted. Spinelli sees none of that. He sees a brave woman who has made some mistakes but who has learned by them and changed. Maxie is very touched and agrees to stay at the penthouse.

Sonny tries to talk Kate into taking him back and becoming re-engaged, but to no avail. Kate, however, does show signs of weakening. Right now, she's crushed. Maxie and Spinelli actually interrupt just at the point where Kate admitted later she almost capitulated...but that moment passed.

As Elizabeth listens in, Karpov threatens Jason, angry that he hurt his associates. Elizabeth emerges from her hiding place when Karpov leaves, but any conversation is truncated because Jason wants to follow Karpov. Elizabeth isn't finished. She appears at his penthouse and says that all they have is the present and that she can separate what he does from who he is. They start kissing. Yay!

Claudia takes the stand and really goes to town. She sort of tells what is really Lulu's and Maxie's stories combined, only in her scenario, she's the one having sex with Logan; he blames her for ruining his chances with Elizabeth and the fight ensues, with Johnny coming in to save her by picking up the knife she dropped. which Logan walked right into. She cries and puts on what is an Oscar-winning performance, were it only filmed.

In Johnny's PCPD office, normallly known as the interrogation/visitor's room, Claudia seems to be praying. Johnny is brought in, very moved by how hard she fought for him.

Back at Shadybrook, Laura counsels Lulu to do what Johnny wants, which is that she live her life. Nikolas arrives as Laura is napping and reports to Lulu about Claudia's testimony. Lulu looks stunned.

Karpov tells Jerry to make sure that something is done about Matt and Jerry assures him that all is being done. He sneaks into the clinic and knocks out Matt Hunter. He walks outside and detonates the bomb, which actually starts a fire in a waste basket. When Nadine arrives (and why she arrived is not certain since the clinic seemed closed). She sees Matt unconsscious and surrounded by fire. When last seen, Nadine was trying to drag Matt out of harm's way, but Matt is too heavy.
