Once is Enough: 'General Hospital' Recap for Monday, September 8, 2008

By Maria Ciaccia, About.com

Sasha (Sandra Hess)

ABC/Adam Larkey

Kate doesn't rant and rave at Sonny, which makes her hurt even more apparent. Plus she looks as if she's been crying. She asks Sonny if he had sex with Carly again, and he says yes. Then he goes into his "we had just left Michael off at the institute" yada yada yada. Plus he and Kate were going through a mini-separation. Kate believes what she has always feared - Sonny's bond with Carly is unbreakable. She leaves, very hurt.

Carly repeats the same mantra to Jax that Sonny did to Kate. Unlike the quiet, hurting inside Kate, Jax is in a rage. Here she made his life a living hell because he kissed Kate, and all the time, she had sex with Sonny. When Carly's first ploy doesn't work, she tries the Carly as Martyr ploy. Everyone leaves me, I blew it, I knew I would. He doesn't care. He's out of there.

Robin seems to be having contractions. Anna is concerned that it's because the baby has HIV that she might be coming early, but Robin explains that nowadays, the chances of the virus being passed on to the child are something like 2%. Mac thinks it's the stress of everyone telling Robin to marry Patrick, and he blames himself for being part of that. Anna reminds him that he just wanted Robin to be happy, as they all do. It turns out that she's having Braxton Hicks contractions, which is false labor, and it's a syndrome other pregnant women on General Hospital have suffered. If Robin watched the show, she would know that.

Patrick, suspicious that stress might have caused these false contractions as well, tells Robin that he is going to stop proposing. Strangely, she doesn't look happy about that.

Johnny is grateful to Claudia for keeping quiet on the stand about Lulu. Claudia doesn't want her brother to have a lethal injection and pleads with him not to cover up Lulu's crime. Johnny assures big sister that she can get along without him. Gee, he could have been a little nicer about it.

At General Hospital, patients in pain pour in from Mercy Hospital, victims of bad drugs. Max thinks the patients took drugs that are worse than ineffective. They're poisonous!

Nikolas and Nadine are both in jail, Nadine for contempt of court and Nikolas for hitting Scott Baldwin. Nadine admits she's there because she went off on Scott when he accused her of being in love with Nikolas. Nikolas takes the statement with good humor.

Maxie doesn't realize that she's just declared war for Jason on Karpov. Sasha wants to know if this is a serious threat. Jason says no. He and Karpov have an agreement, and he's holding to it. Sasha claims to be there to deliver the message that none of Karpov's people had anything to do with what happened to Spinelli, and Jason accepts her word. Upstairs, Maxie and Spinelli see that two Russians were beaten. Maxie goes downstairs; she believes that Jason had something to do with the beating. She starts looking around, and Jason grabs her. I hope she can do without those hair products. It looks like she may be leaving momentarily - and without them.

Back to the counterfeit drug business. Jerry gets ready to get rid of Matt after promising Sasha that he'll take care of the nosey doctor. He goes to plant a bomb at the clinic, but Sam happens along.

Sonny goes for a drive to work off some of his feelings about his encounter with Kate and crashes into a car. He goes over to the driver to ask if he/she is okay and - it's Claudia Zacchara! And she seems to be unconscious.
